The erratic weather conditions provide landslides, dusty winds

Lahore / Shangla:

The unstable weather conditions continued to seize parts of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Saturday, with dusty winds blowing through the plains while persistent precipitation overnight have triggered landslides in the northern hilly regions, blocking the key points of the Karakoram motorway (KKH).

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Punjab is currently experiencing a range of weather conditions with light rains in certain regions, dusty winds in others and cloudless blanket without rain in several parts.

Temperatures across the province should gradually increase. The rain is planned for the Gujranwala and Rawalpindi divisions, while the divisions of Punjab and Southern Lahore are likely to deal with dusty winds with low chances of precipitation.

The Met Office said that showers in certain places can bring a brief relief from increasing heat, adding that the current meteorological system was to leave the country at the end of the day.

In Lahore, the minimum temperature was recorded at 24 ° C, the maximum planned to reach 40 ° C.

On the other hand, the mountainous regions of Shangla and certain parts of Kohistan have been affected by heavy night rain, which led to landslides at several points along the KKH, especially at the Haut Kohistan near Dasu, disturbing cargo and shuttle movements.

The authorities have deployed heavy machines to clean the debris, and although limited road expanses have been reopened for small vehicles and one -way traffic, a complete restoration remains unanswered due to the bad weather, confirmed police officials.

The Gilgit Chilas section of the highway remains operational. The region has also faced intense hailstorms and strong precipitation, which caused considerable damage to orchards and standing crops.
