Karachi:
The Christian community celebrated the Easter Festival on Sunday, with strict security arrangements taken for all Sindh churches.
Easter started with religious services, including prayers, with the participation of a large number of women, children and men.
Prayers have been offered for security, peace and stability of the country, and Christian leaders have said that the teachings of Jesus Christ illustrate humanity, love and brotherhood.
Easter is the second largest festival in the Christian community and is also interpreted as the victory of life over death.
Sindh -chief minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, gave Easter greetings to the Christian community on Sunday.
He said that the Christian community celebrated Easter with great devotion and respect. Murad said Easter taught us about love and mutual respect. “We have great respect for minorities,” he added.
The chief minister said that the Christian community had played a key role in the development of Pakistan.
It is only through mutual love and devotion that the country could be put on the path of development, he said adding that all the minorities in the country enjoyed religious rights and freedom.
