Washington: The American Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, has again shared information on the next US air strikes on Yemen in a group of private signal cats which included his wife, brother and personal lawyer, reported the THE New York Times.
AFP could not verify independently the Times“Report, which detailed what would be the second time that HegSeth has been accused of sharing sensitive military information on the commercial messaging application with unauthorized staff.
Last month, The Atlantic The magazine revealed that its editor -in -chief was inadvertently included in a reported cat in which officials, including Hegseth and the National Security Advisor Mike Waltz discussed strikes, which took place on March 15.
The revelation sparked a tumult, with the administration of American president Donald Trump in the face of a scandal on accidental flight. The investigation of an Inspector General of the Pentagon on this flight is underway.
Times reported that Hegseth had shared information on the same strikes on March 15 on Sunday with the second signal group cat.
The shared information “included the flight schedules for the Hornets F / A-18 targeting the Houthis in Yemen,” the newspaper reported.
The point of sale said that, unlike the accidental flight where journalist Jeffrey Goldberg was wrongly included in the group, this group cat was created by Hegseth. The other cat was launched by Waltz.
“It included his wife and a dozen other people from his personal and professional interior circle in January, before his confirmation as a defense secretary,” Times“Reported, citing anonymous sources.
Hegseth’s wife Jennifer is a journalist and former Fox News producer. The group also included its brothers Phil and Tim Parlatore, who both serve roles at the Pentagon.
Parlatore also continues to serve as a HegSeth personal lawyer, Times reported.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a AFP Comment request.
“ Slander, baseless attacks ”
Trump largely pinned the blame for the previous flight to Waltz, but rejected calls to dismiss the senior officials and rather insisted on what he called the success of the raids on the Yemeni rebels.
This week, three senior Pentagon officials were put on leave awaiting investigations into unpertified leaks in the Ministry of Defense.
Deputy chief of staff Darin Selnick, the main advisor Dan Caldwell and Colin Carroll retaliated on Sunday, publishing a statement saying that Pentagon officials “slandered our character with baseless attacks”.
“Right now, we have still not been told exactly what we have been investigated, if there is always an active investigation, or if there was even a real investigation into the” leak “to start,” they said in a joint statement published on social networks.
“Although this experience has been unacceptable, we remain supported by the Trump-Vance administration to make the Pentagon great again and to achieve peace by force.”
