College Football News: Cincinnati Freshman Offensive Line Fear Dead at 18

The first -year offensive line of Cincinnati, Jeremiah Kelly, died unexpectedly at 18 on Tuesday.

Kelly was found at his residence and his cause of death was not disclosed by the school.

“The Football Bearcats family is broken by the sudden loss of this exceptional young man,” said head coach of the bearcats Scott Satterfield in a statement.

“In a short time, Jeremiah spent with our team, he had a real impact, both on the field and in our locker rooms. My prayers are with the Kelly family and those who had the pleasure of knowing Jérémie.”

Kelly was an early registration in school and practiced with the football team in the spring semester. The native of Avon, Ohio, graduated from Avon high school.

Kelly was part of the Avon Eagles football team, which went 16-0 in 2024 and helped make the first school championship of the school. Kelly received the honors of the first team from all conferences and all districts and was appointed SWC line player of the year as a senior.

As a junior, Kelly helped lead the Eagles to a 14-1 dossier and was teammates with the Cincinnati’s current ball carrier, Jakorion Caffey.

“We have suffered a heartbreaking loss today,” said athletics director John Cunningham. “We all to UC send our love and our prayers to the Kelly family and we will do everything we can to support them and our students with bearcates in the difficult days and the weeks to come.”

The bearcates went 5-7 last season and 3-6 in the Big 12. It was the second season of Saterfield as a chief coach after the departure of Luke Fickell for Wisconsin before the 2023 season.
