Islamabad:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that Pakistan wanted to increase cooperation with China in the fields of space technology, space satellites, telecommunications and satellite Internet.
The Prime Minister made these remarks at a meeting with a delegation from the Chinese space technology company Galaxy Space, led by the president of the company XU Ming.
Calling China as a very reliable friend and a strategic partner, the Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan attaches great importance to the space technology sector.
The members of the delegation also expressed their interest in investing in the Pakistan space technology industry and in collaborating on joint projects with Pakistani space institutions and private telecommunications companies.
By thanking the Pakistan government for warm hospitality, they told the Prime Minister that their meetings with officials from the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications and Suparco were very useful.
In addition, Tuesday, the Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the growing trajectory of bilateral links with Rwanda, and said that Pakistan sought to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, in particular trade, investment and exchanges of people.
The Prime Minister met the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the international cooperation of the Rwanda ambassador, Olivier JP Nduhungirehe, who is currently on an official visit to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister welcomed the dignitary and responded to his good wishes to President Paul Kagame and Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente of Rwanda.
He extended an invitation to President Kagame to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister congratulated Rwanda for having opened its resident mission in Islamabad and said it would be decisive in improving bilateral trade, in particular, thanks to an improved B2B interaction.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister on Tuesday stressed that Pakistan, as well as other countries affected by climate change, require special financial assistance from international financial institutions to meet the challenges posed by climate change.
During a meeting with Luc Triangle, secretary general of the Confederation of the International Syndicate (ITUC), at the PM house, the Prime Minister noted that Pakistan is among the countries most seriously affected by climate change. “The 2022 floods alone have loss of $ 30 billion.”
He stressed that these challenges related to the climate led to employment difficulties and significant losses for workers in Pakistan.
