- Roku has launched two new home -resistant home safety cameras
- The largest of the two has a battery life for up to two years on a single load
- Roku has not revealed a price, but the cameras will be on sale later this year
The Roku streaming specialist has launched a pair of new wireless security cameras that can send video sequences directly on your phone or television, allowing you to watch your courtyard without leaving the sofa.
The Roku battery camera can operate up to six months in a single load, while the battery camera plus extends up to two years. The two cameras are weather resistant and can be installed inside or in a few seconds.
You can use the Roku Smart Home or Roku Web View application to customize your camera settings, configure schedules and receive notifications. Cameras can also be used as a motion detectors to activate some of the best smart lights or other connected devices.
Flash and you will miss it
The life of the real world battery will depend on the parameters you choose and the weather (lithium-ion batteries tend to flow more quickly in cold conditions), but the more battery camera should be a serious rival of the Outdoor 4 blink, which also works up to two years before recharging.
The Blink Outdoor 4 and Roku Battery Plus camera has a 1080p resolution with movement detection and notifications, but the Roku camera also offers a color vision of color rather than black and white, which could give it the advantage on the turnover model if the price is good.
You can also further extend the life of the battery of the Roku cameras by connecting an optional solar panel – something that is not possible with the Blink camera.
Roku has not yet announced the official price of the two cameras, but he indicates that they will be available “in the coming months”. We hope to test ourselves both so that we can see if they deserve a place in our overview of the best home security cameras to secure your smart home.
