So what emotionally devastating event is the construction of season 2? The Ghorman massacre, which is not only an extremely raw moment
But don’t be ahead of ourselves yet. First of all, let’s explore how the last season of one of the best Disney + shows is to present the foundations to represent this serious moment in such a way in the destruction of the soul.
In the opening episode of season 2, Orson Krennic by Ben Mendelsohn, alias the commander of the Galactic Empire who oversees the creation of the Death Star, invites a certain number of high -ranking imperial officers to a secret meeting at the Division of Malteen.
There, Krennic informs the guests assembled that no one outside this play – the Emperor Palpatine and some high -ranking officers despite – is what is discussed during the meeting. Indeed, no note should be taken, the personal droids of the officers will have their hard drives while the meeting is over, the said meeting should not have been put in their calendars, etc.
With this cleaning away, Krennic plays an infopublicity style video to his colleagues employed by the Galactic Empire on the Ghorman planet. This world is famous for spiders that weave the best silk in the galaxy, which is used to make the best serre-serre for the most expensive clothes, which are sold through the cosmos.
It is a strange mini-documentary to show the gathered guests, including the commander of the Imperial Security Office, Major Lio Smoraz and Dedra Meero. But, hey, Krennic is nothing but eccentric (he is also terrifying, but we already knew it).
Anyway, there is a reason why Krennic played this video, and that has nothing to do with the spiders who live Ghorman. The planet also houses a particularly important material – a leafy kalkite of deep substrate (DSFK) – which is apparently important for the Emperor’s energy initiative.
The public line is that DSFK will allow the Galactic Empire to create “a stable and unlimited power” (the words of Krennic, not mine) which can be used throughout the Galaxy, but it is only a front for the real intentions of the tyrannical regime. Indeed, the DFSK will be used to coat the objectives of the death reactor. This will allow the crew of the death star to concentrate her destructive beam of planet to apply enough force to, well, destroy all the planets and their inhabitants who oppose the Empire.

The problem of the Empire is double. To begin with, DSFK excavation is an incredibly invasive procedure, so much so that it would destabilize the heart of the planet and to destroy it effectively. If the Empire does not find an appropriate alternative to the DSFK – it is three years old to locate a substitute, according to Krennic – it will have no choice but to start “mining” Ghorman for DSFK.
The other problem is that the Empire has little or no presence on Ghorman, so its sudden appearance would increase the eyebrows and potentially lead to a rebellion of its 800,000 inhabitants.
But the Empire has a plan. By building a armory in Palmo, the capital of Ghorman, the autocratic regime plans to distract the citizens of Ghorman by using it as a front for ferry secretly in the machines necessary to start digging the DSFK under their nose. With Dedra Meero also informing Krennic that he will need an insurrection led by the Empire on Ghorman to give the imperial an excuse to start erecting the said armory, the plan of the Empire will also be fully operational.
Okay, so what has it to do with the Ghorman massacre? Without spoiling too much, the population of Ghorman is not naive enough to simply take the Empire “ We build an armory, honest! ‘Line with nominal value. The glowing rebellions of the galaxy while the rebellious rebellious alliance begins to fight against the dictatorial empire, it is only a matter of time before Ghorman’s underground resistance was established.
What will be the most interesting for Star Wars fans is which The version of the events, none of which has been covered in a big or small Star Wars project before, is represented in season 2.
This is because there are two incidents that bear the name of the “Ghorman massacre” in Star Wars literature. The best known takes place two years before the Battle of Yavin (2 BBY), alias the battle represented in Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope. The other, described in the chronology of Star Wars: now non-canonical legends, occurs in 18 BBY, that is to say well before the events of Andor.
For those who do not know the massacre of Ghorman, I will not spoil what is happening during one or the other event. But, with the episodes of season 2 7 to 9 in 2 BBY, the fans will not have long wait to discover which version is used not only as inspiration for the massacre of Ghorman in one of the new Star Wars television shows of 2025, but avoids the confusion as to which event is in fact canon.
