The senior PPP leader, Faryal Talpur, declared the suspension of work on the new channels and the invocation of the meeting of the Common Interest Board (CCI) as a victory for national unity, constitutional supremacy and the Sindh people’s struggle.
“Today is a day of triumph for the federal unity of Pakistan, the supremacy of the constitution and the rights of farmers,” Talpur said in a statement.
She stressed that the leadership in principle of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the peaceful protest of the Sindh people have proven that when the position is fair and that the intention is pure, the government is forced to listen to the people.
Talpur called the announcement of the PM Shehbaz Sharif to stop the work on the new channels and the decision to convene the meeting of the CCI on May 2 a wise and prudent stage.
“The position of the Prime Minister is a positive development towards the strengthening of democratic traditions, the recognition of provincial autonomy and the empowerment of constitutional institutions,” she noted.
