The United Kingdom and Russia have published updated travel notices for their citizens concerning trips to Pakistan, citing increased regional tensions and security problems following the Pahalgam attack.
In a press release available on the British government’s website, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advised to travel in parts of Pakistan and warned that travel insurance could be invalidated if citizens travel contrary to this advice.
The FCDO has advised all essential trips to less than five miles from the international border between Pakistan and India and against all trips to less than 10 miles from the control line (LOC).
He also published opinions against all trips to the province of Baloutchistan and less than 10 miles from the border with Afghanistan. In addition, the FCDO has recommended to avoid traveling in certain parts of India due to increased tensions.
Meanwhile, the Russian Embassy in Pakistan urged its citizens to avoid going to Pakistan until the regional situation stabilizes. The opinion calls on Russian nationals to postpone all travel plans until tensions are calm and stability is restored.
According to the embassy, the directives were issued in the light of the climbing of tensions between Pakistan and India, as well as the inflammatory remarks of officials who contributed to regional uncertainty.
These developments arise as the diplomatic crisis between India and Pakistan deepens. Earlier this week, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs announced the immediate suspension of the visa services for Pakistani nationals and interrupted cooperation under the Industry Water Treaty.
This decision follows what Indian officials have described as a terrorist attack targeting Hindu tourists at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, located in Jammu-et-Cachemire illegally Indian (iiojk). The attack cost the life of 25 Indian nationals and a Nepalese citizen, leaving several other wounded.
In response, the National National Security Committee of Pakistan (NSC) warned that any attempt by India to block water flow in Pakistan would be considered an act of war. The warning came after a high -level meeting of the NSC, which also approved the closure of the Wagah border passage.
On Friday, the Senate of Pakistan unanimously adopted a resolution rejecting the allegations of India connecting Pakistan to the attack of Pahalgam, describing the affirmations as without foundation and with political motivation.
