Nine years after Mitchell Van Vooren announced a choice of Miami Dolphins in the draft of the 2016 NFL, he hopes to hear his own name called at some point before the final selection of this year’s draft is made on Saturday.

Van Vooren announced that Thomas Duarte, the tight winger of the UCLA, was the choice of seventh tour of the Dolphins in 2016. Now, almost a decade later, Van Vooren is in the draft of the NFL in 2025 as a tight fine.

Van Vooren, however, did not play football throughout his university career, when he started as a star of the track.

Before Van Voooren was transferred to St. Norbert to play football, he received four academic letters from Marquette on track. He qualified for the NCAA Division I West Regional in the hedges of 400 meters and broke the school record with a time of 51.38 seconds.

He ranked 18th in the quarterfinals of the NCAA West with a time of 51.75 seconds.

After the track in Marquette, Van Vooren played football for two seasons in St. Norbert. In 22 games, he captured 65 passes for 1,045 yards with 13 touchdown.

Although he only played these 22 college games, the success of Van Vooren in the field earned him training with the Green Bay Packers and Cleveland Browns, by NFL Network.

“Whether I am written or signed as a free agent, the goal is just to set foot in the door,” said Van Voorren via Marquette today.

To add to what would already be an incredible story, Van Vooren grew up in Marinette, Wisconsin, about an hour from the place where the NFL recovery is held at Lambeau Field and its name could be called.
