The Punjab government has announced that the summer holidays in schools will start from June 1, subject to the increase in temperatures and health problems for students and staff.
The secretary of school education, Khalid Nazir Wattoo, said that the calendar could be revised if temperatures continue to increase, said Express News.
“If temperatures are increasing unusually, the holidays could start a week earlier,” said Wattoo. “This step favors the health of students, teachers and parents, because intense heat can have an impact on educational activities.”
The decision comes in the midst of growing global concerns concerning climate change, which continues to disrupt weather conditions around the world.
