This week, we celebrated the day of the earth with a series of durability -focused parts, we saw our LG TVs turn into Xbox and were able to discover the new Insta360 X5.
To make up for all this and more in the world of technology, scroll down for summary of the seven largest technological news of the week.
When you are finished, be sure to consult our choices for the seven new films and television shows to watch this weekend (April 25).
7. We organized the 2025 sustainability week
To celebrate the day of the earth this year, we have set up a series of stories from the whole technological industry to celebrate, challenge and emphasize all that is durable.
With deep dives in sustainable champions such as Fairphone, exciting details on breakthroughs in sustainable technology – as extreme heat could be the answer to our lithium ion battery problems – and guides on the best way to shop for used technology, we have covered with items that are worth your time if you want to go green.
We have also published new video content on our Tiktok, Instagram and Youtube channels, so make sure you subscribe to these platforms if you want to see all our durability coverage last week.
6. Alexa + The first adopters told us their first thoughts
Almost two months after her announcement, Alexa + has still not appeared on our Echo emission devices. We become impatient, but fortunately, a member of the adoption program of the first Amazon led to Reddit to share his experiences with the new vocal assistant while we are waiting.
It seems that there are still a few oddities to settle (Alexa + tries to direct users to Amazon music when they want to play from Spotify), but overall, they were quite impressed – especially when it comes to interpreting complex questions and synthesizing speech. “The former Alexa was hot garbage, but this new one was a pleasant surprise,” concluded the tester.
Lé praise indeed.
5. Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-orders have become in the United States
The pre-orders of Nintendo Switch 2 were finally posted on April 24 in the United States after the unexpected delay that came during the American price uncertainty earlier this month. And there were mixed results with the way it happened, to say the least.
Far from the own pre -order system based on the invitations of Nintendo, three large retailers in Walmart, Target and Best Buy, all launched their pre -orders at midnight on April 24. There was a huge clamor for the product, and although some only offered the standard console and Mario Kart World Bundle, others (Best Buy) have designed a bunch of custom packets.
GameStop opted for the fact later during the day, freeing pre -orders in store when stores opened and chooses to put your stock online at 11 a.m. However, this method was – from our experience learned, at least – a huge disappointment. The interest was so high that the GameStop website has fully stopped working for large periods.
Overall, it was a familiar story in terms of launching desired equipment: some people were lucky, and some people were not. Hoping that all levels end soon enough. The SWITCH 2 pre-order status of the United Kingdom is now less eventful, but the easily available stock remains difficult to find.
4. LG TV has become Xbox
This week, Microsoft continued its mission to transform everything into Xbox, with its latest efforts transforming your LG TV into an Xbox via its cloud game service.
If you have a webos 24 or webos 25 compatible TV (that is to say that if your LG TV launched in 2022 or after, or if it is a Stanbyme 2021 screen), you can install a beta version of the Xbox application. All you will need is an Xbox controller and an Ultimate Pass Ultimate subscription.
Remember that, because everything happens in the cloud, the quality of your experience will be determined by the quality of your Internet connection, so if your connection is not the most stable, your Xbox LG game can be a bit jerky.
3. We got our hands on the new Motorola Razr Ultra
The 2025 Motorola Razr family is there, including the new flagship product Motorola Razr Ultra, and Motorola Triple on its commitment to CMF – Color, Materials and Finish Unique. In addition to unique color options – straight from the Pantone color catalog – Motorola manufactures phones with unique materials such as real wood and Italian Alcantara, and offers finishing options that give phones that phones feel like nylon, acetate or false leather.
This RAZR is really the antidote for boring phone design, and I had fun browsing the different looks to decide what I liked the most. Spoiler: it is Alcantara, which has a luxurious and soft sensation; Although this is a blow between this color scarab and the new mountain path wood option.
The Ultra RAZR is not out of the specifications either, and Motorola finally offers flagship performance in its high -end model. Unfortunately, it comes with a higher price this year, but it could be worth the additional cost if the cameras and the battery hold their promise.
2. The new X5 360 Insta360 camera has been abandoned
A little over a year ago, we said that the Insta360 X4 is the best 360 camera – and this week obtained a suite with the Insta360 X5 inventively named.
This new improved model can record 8K to 360 degrees at 30 images per second or 5.7K at 60FPS – like its predecessor – although with a larger image sensor, it should offer a much better low -light image quality than the X4, and should boast of a better dynamic range to all resolutions to make the color of your shots more vibrant.
You will also appreciate the largest battery capacity, the efficiency and the heat dissipation which, according to Insta360, leads to the X5 with a 37% battery life and the less hot device – a problem that we know with the X4 before it. This means that you should be able to count on the X5 to record more of your adventures between the charges.
The standard Insta360 X5 version costs $ 549.99 / 519.99 £ / 929.99 $, while the Estais bundle costs $ 659.99 / 609.99 £ / at $ 109.99 and includes an additional battery, a fast load box, 114 cm Invisible Selfie stick, Standard lens guards, lenses and a case of transport.
1. Adobe gave us a new mood painting powered by AI
One of the most useful tips of AI is to act as a brainstorming acolyte – and Adobe has just launched a new tool that seems ideal for visual creativity sessions.
Fire cards (which are the new name “Project Concept”) is available to try now in beta version and an infinite canvas for moodboarding where you can use both images generated by AI and your own reference photos to find new ideas. It is designed for designers, but could also improve your birthday party invitations.
There is a free version with limited credits, and you can reach the waiting list now. We can see this one is a solid (and fun) weekend time.
