Pakistan’s army chief of staff, General Asim Munnir, said that the ancestors of the country had made countless sacrifices for the creation of the country and that the military is fully ready to defend it.

Speaking during a parade ceremony at Pakistan Military Academy in Kakul, General Munnir stressed that Muslims are distinct from Hindu in all aspects of life – religion, customs, traditions, thoughts and aspirations.

“The theory of the two nations was based on the fundamental belief that Muslims and Hindus are two distinct nations, not one,” said the army chief.

He added that the existence of Pakistan is the result of an unprecedented struggle and sacrifices, and it remains the duty of the army to safeguard it.

“Our ancestors have given immense sacrifices for the creation of Pakistan. We know how to defend it,” he said.

Earlier to address the event, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was open to participation in a “neutral, transparent and credible” investigation on the attack by Pahalgam, in the midst of increasing tensions with India.

Prime Minister Shehbaz condemned the “perpetual game of blame” of India and called at the end of accusations without credible investigations.

“The recent tragedy in Pahalgam is another example of this model,” he said. “Continuing its role as responsible country, Pakistan is open to any neutral, transparent and credible investigation.”

He criticized India to have leveled “baseless allegations” against Pakistan without verifiable evidence, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to support the law of cashmertism to self -determination, qualifying the cashmere of the “jugular vein” of Pakistan.

Responding to the concerns about the recent suspension of India from the Industry Water Treaty after Pahalgam attack, Shehbaz warned that any attempt to block or divert the share of Pakistan water would cause full response. He described water as a life buoy from Pakistan and a vital national interest.

Shehbaz also underlined Pakistan’s sacrifices in the world fight against terrorism, noting more than 90,000 victims and $ 600 billion in economic losses.
