Iran is trying to defuse the brewing tensions between Pakistan and India while its president spoke on Saturday with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Narendra Modi.
On Friday, the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs spoke to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar and offered the good offices of his country to ask for a de -escalation in tensions.
“India and Pakistan are Fraternal neighbors of Iran, enjoying relationships rooted in secular cultural and civilizational ties. Like other neighbors, we consider them our greatest priority,” said the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sayed Abbas Araghchi wrote on X after talking to Dar.
He added: “Tehran is ready to use his good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to forge a better understanding during this difficult period, in accordance with the spirit taught by the Persian poet Saadi:” Human beings are members of a whole; In the creation of an essence and a soul; If a member is inflicted on pain; Other members will remain uncomfortable. “”

The Prime Minister confirmed that he had discussed current Indo-Pakistani tensions with the Iranian president.

In a telephone conversation with Türkiye’s foreign minister Hakan Fidan, Dar informed him of the decisions taken by the Pakistan National Security Committee in response to the baseless allegations of India, unilateral measures and false propaganda.

On Saturday, Chinese ambassador Jiang Zaidong met the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar to discuss Indo-Pakistani tensions.

China is a key player and the pillar of Pakistan given the deterioration of the situation with India. Sources have said that China has supported Pakistan and supported Islamabad’s efforts in de -escalation.
