“Little girls who admire Riley Gaines and Paula Scanlan can find hope in today’s action – the Trump administration will not allow male athletes to invade female private spaces or to participate in female categories,” said the acting assistant secretary for Civil Rights Craig Train in a press release.

“Upenn has the choice to do: do the right thing for his students and comply immediately in title IX or continue to advance an extremist political project which violates the federal law on anti -discrimination and endangers the federal funding of Upenn.”

PK Press Club Digital contacted the University of Pennsylvania to comment.

The OCR demanded that the school publish a declaration on its intention to follow the title IX with two other key actions.

“Restore to all female athletes all individual sports discs, titles, honors, rewards or similar recognition for swimming competitions of the Division I unparalleled by male athletes which participate in female categories.

The problem stems from Lia Thomas’ participation in the female swimming team during the 2021-22 season, becoming the first transgender woman to win a national championship. Thomas also broke several records at school.

Paula Scanlan, a former teammate from Thomas at the time, detailed in the legislators of the congress what she had to do with emotional testimonies in 2023.

Thomas was able to compete at the level of women in Division I of the NCAA because of the policy of participation between the sexes of the organization at the time.
