Phishing attacks at the top of the tables for the most popular intrusion points for cybercriminals still and still, and new research of Check Point reveals the most commonly imitated companies for the first quarter of 2025. Criminals that are the identity of Microsoft were by far the most common, representing 36% of social engineering attacks linked to the brand observed in the study.
Following behind Google and Apple, representing 12% and 8% respectively – which means that more than half of all incidents (56%) come from a false address associated with one of these three brands.
A notable change is however in the rise of Mastercard’s imitations – with a campaign of fraudulent websites discovered, mainly intended for Japanese users and tries to steal financial information sensitive to victims using a fake website and encouraging users to enter their card numbers and CVVs.
Trendy attacks
Unsurprisingly, research shows that technology is the most from attacks in the first quarter of 20225 – probably because more and more people use services, and because criminals can encourage users to hinder identification information with scams “ reset password ”, or can attract victims to a malicious site, in particular given the trust.
This is not the first time that researchers have identified Microsoft as the most commonly imitated company in phishing scams, and the best way to stay safe against phishing is to be super vigilant – to double the verification of any e -mail address for differences and never clicking on a link from an undertaken source.
“As we progress until 2025, organizations and users must remain attentive to the evolutionary threat of phishing attacks,” explains Check Point.
“The most frequently targeted brands are not only household names – they are gateways to sensitive personal and financial information.
