Windows 11 24H2 has a new optional update which, in addition to sending a live recall on Copilot + PCS, also offers goodies for PCs NO AI – including a significant resolution of a bug causing blue screen accidents. However, I was waiting for your time before entering it, for reasons why I will come back shortly.
As the latest Windows reports report, the 24 -hour overview that has just been published entirely addresses the problem with Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) of accidents who disturbed certain users of Windows 11. These incidents put PCs to a grinding shot with cryptic error messages of a type or other (such as ” secure “or” dead critical process “).
Now, you may remember that Microsoft has deployed an emergency solution to resolve this question already, so you may be wondering: did that heal these BSOD? Well, yes, but it was achieved by bringing back a problematic change applied in the cumulative update of April (the full version of this month, as opposed to this optional updated update).
What happened with this new optional update is the complete corrective of the problem, so whatever the change made before, which was fell – Microsoft did not tell us what it was, moreover – was now put in place, the less the annoying BSODS (finally, let’s hope it).
Elsewhere in this optional corrective, Microsoft has provided faster compressed file extraction, so when you remove the content from a zip in Windows 11, these files are unpacked a little more quickly (as spotted in the tests previously). It is when the use of the integrated zip functionality of Windows 11 in File Explorer (the folders you work with the desktop).
Aside from the exclusives Copilot + PC, another final point point is that the lateral panel of the Start menu for the telephone link application now takes place on all Windows 11 PCs with this update. This provides all key features to integrate important smartphones – for your Android or iPhone device – in the Start menu for more convenience.
However, as it is only deploying, you may have to wait a while for it to arrive motionless, even if you install this optional update.
Analysis: More reasons to make an optional update than normal
This is the key question of course: do you want to install this update? I generally advise people to avoid updates of the overview, and it is not different, especially since if the blue screen was blocked what bored you about the previous one (cumulative update) for April, they were temporarily attenuated anyway.
I suggest that everything that should be remote to avoid BSOD is something that you can probably live until May 13, that is to say that this optional fix will become the full cumulative update for May. This means that it will have been tested, so if there are wrinkles in BSOD healing, they should have been straightened at that time.
Of course, if you still live in blue screen accidents with your Windows 11 24H2 machine – which means that Microsoft’s Rollback attenuation has not worked for you – in this case, it will probably be worth entering this optional update.
Otherwise, I would leave it, because you can always wait for faster discharge speeds, and the addition of telephone link to the start menu is anyway in its very early deployment phase – so you may not obtain it for a while, even if you install this preview update.
Copilot + PC owners can be much more tempted to download this optional upgrade, the mind because they get a lot. Namely the complete arrival of the functionality of Kingpin AI, reminder, supplemented by a click to do, and in addition to that, probably the most important addition, an improved basic search feature for Windows 11.
Despite this, these are complex features – recall in particular – and as such, I would always be inclined to wait for the full official update to present in mid -May rather than chance. Although I should note that even with this complete version, the recall will always be labeled as in “Overview” (but the search for natural language turbocharged for Windows 11 will not be).
