Chase Elliott brought two checkered flags to Talladega during his career – last weekend, he fell short.
However, he was very successful there. In fact, during his very first race there, he finished in fifth and in 18 races since then, he has eight top-10 in the race race in Alabama.
“I can’t wait to go there. Talladega has always been a bit of a home race. Talladega is one of the first Nascar spots, it is understandable.
“The madness and chaos which are the inner field is extremely well known, just the party and the destination it is,” said Elliott. “I don’t really think people necessarily care if the race is good or bad – I think people are more there for the environment.”
“Many people care about what the race is, but I think people go to experience a lot of times and remain to hope for a good race on Sunday too. And fortunately, it really was not a problem in Talladega. Many times, the race Sunday offers a good late afternoon. It is a good weekend with their friends, and a cherry on both.”
A fifth place is hardly something to ignore-it was his third top-five this season, and he also has six top-10.

However, he also has two 15th place and a 20th place in the file this year and is still without victory this year. So, despite the fourth place in the CUP series classification at the moment, Elliott thinks that his season was just “OK”.
“There have been high points, good finishes the weeks we don’t deserve, and bad finishes the weeks when we are probably worth having better. There were weeks flat, and good weeks too. Unfortunately, not good enough to win, but there were a few scenarios where we were in the mixture,” said Elliott.
“We have been everywhere in the table, certainly not the level of coherence that I would like to see. But a lot of room for improvement. This first section was a warm -up, and now we are going directly to the championship in November. Many races to come, a lot of time to meet or not. It depends on the way we execute the next months.”
Elliott won the title of the Cup series, his only championship in 2020 – his best arrival since then was fourth, which he had both in 2021 and 2022 before following a 17th place in 2023, then seventh last year.
Of course, it is not easy to go out every year, but to do it, “we have to find some consistency”.

“We had a legitimate shot to win the race in Martinsville, go to Bristol and absolutely not in the mixture,” said Elliott (he finished fourth and 15th of these races, respectively). “I just try to be more consistent in all areas and have this type of performance when we are able to win more often and do it in different types of track and sizes and places and we will simply go in the right direction. It was a little uneven, so we have to do it here. I think we can, I just have to keep the truck.”
