Malcolm Jenkins, a Super Bowl champion retired an NFL player who was one of the Eagles of Philadelphia who refused to celebrate their victory in the White House with President Donald Trump in 2018, congratulated Jalen Hurts for his decision to jump the ceremony.
Hurts decided to give up the celebration of the championship in Washington for what was determined to be “schedule conflicts”. Silence on the question of frequenting the ceremony while the Gala Time100 last week pronounced more words than if he said something.

Jenkins wrote in a substitution article according to which if Hurts can navigate the meticulous examination which could come with the decision, he will amount to something more than a simple NFL player.
“He solidifies as an altruistic leader, ready to risk comforting to honor his values,” wrote Jenkins. “He strengthens his integrity and his cultural capital in a way that few athletes reach. He shows the next generation what it looks like standing – not just playing for applause. He joins a tradition of athletes who have used their peak to advance conversations, not to keep them away.”
Jenkins clearly indicated that “leadership is never optional” and jumping the White House would present its own set of problems, public control and the media to the potential division of the locker room.

The head of the Giants told Trump to “stop the Yapping” after the complaint of President Saquon Barkley
“Today’s leadership is not only to lead a team,” added Jenkins. “It is a question of leading a conversation. And Jalen hurts – whether or not to realize it – he just entered this conversation at the highest level.”
The old defensive back also discussed Saquon Barkley’s decision to spend the day with Trump before the celebration of the White House.

“It was disappointing, at the very least, but I understand that respect is working in both directions,” wrote Jenkins. “Each man must follow his own path. But neutrality is not a neutrality in moments like these. And even silence becomes a declaration.”
