Nirc, ilo to hold the historic Labor Day Conference tomorrow

Islamabad: as part of the International Labor Day 2025, the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC), in collaboration with the International Labor Organization (ILO), should organize an historic international conference on May 1 (Tomorrow) in Islamabad.

The event, which will be held in Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), is the theme of “harmony with change”, aimed at promoting dialogue and consultation on workers’ rights, industrial harmony and legislation aligned with international standards in Pakistan.

It will be the first major national conference organized by the NIRC since 1969. The high -level rally will star in federal ministers, honorable judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, union leaders, industrialists, legal experts and superior representatives of the ILO.

The conference will be inaugurated and chaired by the president of NIRC, the judge (RETD) Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui. Following his opening speech, the renowned lawyer, lawyer Zafarullah Khan will speak of “rights and responsibilities of employers and workers of Islam”.

Juma Jamal Khan Mandokhail of the Supreme Court will pronounce a special address on “the role of the Pakistani judicial power in the protection of labor rights”.

Several technical sessions will also take place during the conference. The first session, entitled “Industrial harmony and social dialogue”, will be chaired by the former judge of the Supreme Court, judge (r) Khalilur Rehman Ramday.

Panelists will understand Muhammad Asim Kichhi, Managing Director of Associated Press of Pakistan (Apply)); Tahir Yaqub Bhatti, president of the Zarai Taraqii bank; Shoaib Adil, additional secretary of Pakistani railways; Faisal Nisar Charthry, Managing Director of Utility Stores Corporation; Mir Ibrahim Rahman, CEO of PK Press Club TV; And Siraj Hussain, director of Unilever Pakistan.

Union leaders will also participate in the round table. The session will be hosted by Salman Mansoor Siddiqui, secretary general of the association of the bar of the Supreme Court.

The second session, chaired by the Federal Minister of Pakistani and the development of human resources abroad, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, will focus on “repairing grievances under the 2012 industrial relations Act” and “Pakistan’s commitment to ILO conventions”.

The lawyer Imran Shafiq will join as a mediator, while the work expert Iftikhar Ahmed and the justice of the High Court of Lahore Jawad Hassan will present their prospects.

At the end of the session, the Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, will deliver a speech on “efforts to align existing laws in Pakistan with international labor standards”.

The director of the Pakistan ILO country, Geir Tonstol, will deliver an open speech on “the future of work”. The conference will end with the presentation of honorary shields to distinguished guests, followed by a lunch for all participants.

Describing the event as an important step for labor rights and industrial harmony, Siddiqui said: “We 2025 is not just a slogan; It is a vision rooted in dialogue, respect and partnership with a better future. ”
