No hope for the NFL draft was able to live the first round as the Receiver of Texas Matthew Golden.
The product of Texas Longhorns was one of those in the green room behind the Field Lambeau scene last week, patiently waiting to hear its name called by its next team. Golden waited a long time at night, but the host team did something they had not done since 2002.

The president of the packers, Mark Murphy, had the faithful of Green Bay in a frenzy when he announced Golden as the first wide receiver taken by the franchise in more than two decades, and his reception when he left the green room with the packers hats and holding his jersey still does not feel real.
“It still doesn’t seem real to me, this is what is crazy,” he told PK Press Club Digital, while discussing his time in the draft with Tide. “As I said, I was waiting to call myself for six years, and the way it happened to be in Green Bay, so that it has been the first receiver since 2002, this meant even more for me.
“Many history behind that, and just as it happened, I have the impression that God made it happen like that for a reason. This is something that will stay with me forever.”

Golden asked fans of the packers who sang with him before leaving the scene, because love for their new hiding place was certainly fully exposed.
However, packers fans also expect a lot of him because of history. If being a first round was not enough, coming to a team with a desperate fans base for their next higher receiver could be.
Golden, however, does not seem to feel this pressure.

“Certainly no pressure, but I certainly know that I have to enter, I must compete and I must contribute to this team,” he explained. “This is something I got in me, it is the mentality I have happened. I have something to prove, and I will help us win. Whatever the team needs me, that’s what I’m here to do.”
It is a wide, crowded receptor room in Green Bay, with Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks, among others. All had their names called in one way or another in 2024, but none of them intensified to Jordan Love as a real higher receiver.
It is not always a bad thing, but fans of the packers would like their Davante Adams -, Jordy Nelson, the wide Donald Driver type receiver which can rise above the rest. It remains to be seen if it’s Golden, but a choice of first round carries this kind of weight.
Golden said he had already spoken to Watson and Reed and couldn’t be more excited to make his brand on packers – in whatever role.

“They told me that they were happy to have me here, and it’s time to go to work,” said Golden about his conversations with Watson and Reed. “So, I just played with guys like that, it’s going to be incredible. Lots of weapons, so I’m ready to enter and contribute to the game with them and have fun.”
What Golden immediately brings to the Packers offensive is more speed, running a dashboard of 40 yards under 4.30. But it is more than a simple pony in a turn of the passing game.
“My itinerary works. I can run any road tree in the book-inside and outside,” he said. “Wherever it is, I can also line up in the back field. Understand the game so well where I can create a separation without running at full speed. I understand it so well – a lot of people think that I do not run quickly on the field, but I don’t have to run quickly to open.
“I know that coming here in this organization, they will really help me a lot with other tools that can help my game. I am happy to be here, I am happy to be trained by them and I am ready to go to work.”

Golden is happy and enthusiastic about the start of his NFL trip, and he felt this strong feeling of community when he participated in the “trailer games” with Tide, alongside the former NFL Anthony line player “Spice” Adams.
“It was cool,” said Golden about his work with Tide. “Being with spices, certainly a funny guy to be there. We played a lot of games, so it was a cool experience for me. I always wanted to be in a commercial video with Tide, and for it to be really happening, it was really incredible for me.”
