EXCLUSIVE: The family of Texas Teen Karmelo Anthony has been at the center of the national media in recent weeks after the 17 -year -old has stabbed another boy to death during a track meeting in Frisco on April 2.
Since the incident, Anthony’s family has collected more than $ 515,000 on the Crowdsourcing Givedgo platform. The Karmelo Anthony Help Fund has become one of the most discussed fundraising campaigns in recent weeks, collecting half a million dollars for a suspect who said “I did” about stabs, but also claims that he was in a state of self-defense.
The campaign has not yet reached its objective of $ 600,000, which was pushed on Tuesday from a previous objective of $ 525,000, so that the funds were not paid to the family.

The co -founder of GiveNedo, Jacob Wells, told PK Press Club Digital that his company had a team that communicated with the Anthony family on how they planned to use the money received.
“They were very clear that the big major part of this money will be used for the legal defense of Karmelo,” said Wells, adding later: “They indicated that some of them will be used to provide them with security, essential security.”
Wells also said: “And then also, a secure location so that they live … They praised before, and they continue to rent. So, it’s, okay, $ 3,000 per month for the year, the year and a half.”
Wells refused to reveal something more specific than that.
The co-founder “ Not proud ” to welcome fundraising for a suspect in alleged track murder, says that some donors are “ bad ”
PK Press Club Digital contacted the lawyer and the family spokesman, the president of the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), Dominique Alexander, to comment.
The description of the fund collection page has been changed since its first online.
The Fundraiser’s purposes Currently Reads, “While Legal Defense is a Critical part of this Journey, we want to make it clear that this fund is not solely dedicated to Legal Expensures. The Funds Raised will also support A Range of Urgent and Necessary Needs that Situation, included-But not limited to-The Safe Relocation of the Anthony Family due to Escalating Threats to Their Safety and Well-Being, As Well as Basic Living Costs, Transportation, Counseling, and other security measures.
Previously, the page had not disclosed the objective of the funds.
“We sent an email to all those who donated … because there was a certain confusion at the start to find out if it was specifically a legal defense fund, or if it was open to other things,” said Wells.
“They have updated their campaign to say” hey, here are some of the things we will spend on money. “And we sent an email to all those who had made a donation by saying” make sure you have read, and if you have any questions now, about their updated statements regarding the use of funds, then you are invited to request a refund … and no one answered “I want my money to come back”.

Wells added that if the funds of a campaign were used to buy something that was not properly represented on the fund collection page, it would be a violation of the company’s policy and the reasons for moving.
Wells says that he withdrew another fundraising on his site to fraudulently collect funds for travel expenses while the organizer intended to use the money to buy a firearm. However, he said that this was not the case with the Anthony fund.
Anthony was recently moved from his home To an “unknown location to ensure its immediate safety” following an “alarming increase in death threats, continuous harassment and physical intimidation targeting the family’s home,” Ngan said in a statement last week.
According to the press release, the threats included people flashing and taking photos of the current residence of the Anthony family, deliveries of unwanted food which, according to Ngan, were “made to disturb and harass the family” and a sending of the Metcalf’s Billology, which was also described as “disturbing”.
“We share images and documents of threats to which the family was faced last weekend to raise public awareness of the dangerous atmosphere that was created – an atmosphere fueled by organized hatred, systemic racism and intentional disinformation,” said the group.
Anthony was released from Collin County prison after his deposit went from $ 1 million to $ 250,000 last Monday. He is accused of first degree murder.

Meanwhile, the Metcalf family has been the victim of Swatting in recent weeks, the Frisco police department previously confirmed. SCATTING, it is when a call to 911 is made, generally to report a violent false crime, to obtain the police and sometimes even the Swat teams, to respond to the address given by the appellant.
Anthony would have confessed to having stabbed Metcalf when he was arrested by a school agent at the Kuykendall stadium in the minutes that followed the attack.
When an officer said to another that he had the alleged suspect of a stab in detention, Anthony apparently said: “I am not alleged. I did it,” said the incident’s arrest report.
Anthony also asked the police if Metcalf “was going to go well” and asked if what had happened could be considered a “self -defense”.
