The NFL wide receiver hunter, Renfrow, signed with the Carolina Panthers During the weekend and hopes to return to the football field this season after a health diagnosis put it aside last year.
Renfrow, 29, signed with the Panthers on Sunday, in an interview published on the team’s website, Renfrow spoke of its previous health struggles, which maintained the former Clemson off competition for the 2024 season.

“It gave me the buttocks well enough,” Renfrow said, revealing that it was diagnosed with the autoimmune state, an ulcerative colitis. “Last year, I fluctuated by weight; I went down to 150 pounds. I had seven consecutive days of 103 degrees fevers. It’s hard to play when you don’t feel good.”

In addition to fever and weight loss, Renfrow also had trouble with fatigue.
“It’s just to try to come back, to try to be healthy, to try to do something that I like,” he said about his recovery and his training. “I appreciated other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying this and just wanting to make sure that I will come back and give my time and my attention to something that I was going to be on it.”

Although there is no remedy, treatment can considerably reduce the effects of ulcerative colitis.
“It is a strange feeling. It makes you grateful for the moments when you feel good,” said Renfrow about his health career. “It makes you grateful to the opportunities you have had, and when you feel like you have been blessed with skills to go there and play, it doesn’t make you want to lose the opportunity you have. And that was one of the reasons I wanted to come back and play.”
Renfrow was drafted by Raiders In the fifth round of the NFL 2019 NFL draft. It transported 269 receptions for 2,884 reception yards and 17 affected on five seasons with the organization.

Renfrow joins a stacked receiver room, which includes the veteran Wideout Adam Thielen and two first round choices, Tetairoa McMillan (2025) and Xavier Legette (2024).
“I want to try to be a big teammate and try to go there and compete with friends,” added Renfrow. “I have not yet met a ton of people here, but I imagine there are incredible people and an incredible group of guys here that I am delighted to compete.”
