The permanent committee of the National Assembly on the railroads recommended a deadline for one month for the secretaries of provincial chiefs to transfer titles of railway land encored at the Pakistani railways, warning that the fact of not complying with their invocation before the Committee.
The recommendation occurred at the 10th meeting of the Committee held at the office of the Divisional Superintendent of the Pakistani railways, Karachi, chaired by Rai Hassan Nawaz Khan on Wednesday, according to a press release.
The members were informed that out of 19,594 acres of railway land in the Karachi division, 954 acres were stacked by individuals. Of this, around 340 acres have been recovered in the past three years.
The divisional Superintendent stressed that one of the main obstacles to the recovery of empiƩte lands is the delay in the transfer of land titles from provincial governments to Pakistani railways.
As part of the meeting, the Committee also visited Karachi Port Trust, Keamari, to observe the loading and unloading operations of freight, which they appreciated for its effectiveness. The members then inspected the Cantt. The station to examine public facilities and overall conditions.
