Edith we-001 Reader cassette: key features
The WE -001 can look like a band pilot from the 1980s (and indeed the magnificent 2024 option from FIIO – built to honor the 1979 TPS in 1979), but it takes advantage of some of the technologies that have become common since, you know, when Walkmen has worked on earth.
The most important of these technologies is Bluetooth. You can always use wired headphones if you want to look like a Cliff Richard clip (ask your grandparents), but wireless is of course much more practical.
The other key technology is that instead of AA batteries, this player is powered by an internal rechargeable battery which is good for 12 hours of promised reading.
In addition to playing cassettes, the WE-001 can also record on them, via its 3.5 mm line-in. There is no internal microphone, however, and you can only save on type I cassettes. For reading, you can use types I to IV.
The Edith We-001 is now available from selected retailers, including independent record stores, and honestly, if it does not make you want to grasp your neon sweat bands and go to a roll disco with Cyndi Lauper in your ears, I don’t know what will do.
