- Google Messages brings new design upgrades to its user interface
- This is in particular a PDF preview function and an improved landscape mode
- We could also obtain a “unsubscribe” function for spam messages
It seems that Google has worked on improving the user interface of its platforms. It is just given that its YouTube Smart TV application is a big upgrade, and now it seems that its Google Messages service also attracts a much necessary attention. Although the future of Gemini’s integration with Google messages remains a mystery, Google has added even more upgrades not linked to AI to its mail application.
Following a series of useful upgrading tests, Google introduced four other user interface changes, which were spotted by Android Authority. Three of them appeared in an apk disassembly and the fourth is already available in the latest beta version.
These changes in Google messages do not only offer an aesthetic boost, but they also provide long -awaited answers to the questions that users are asking for a while and could improve your visual navigation of the Google Messages application.
1. A more balanced landscape mode
The first of the four upgrades is a small adjustment of the landscape mode in Google messages. For a long time, users have found that Google messages can be a little extinct when tilted and used in landscape mode, the width of the cat screen being much greater than the width of the messages list.
This is one of the changes that the Android authority has identified in its dismantling. It reveals that Google could possibly solve this problem in the near future, making both sides of the screen even in size.
2. Overview of PDF files in RCS messages
When it comes to visualizing the media in RCS cats, shared URL videos and URL links are delivered with a visual overview showing the reader a brief extract from the shared content without opening the file. But many users have noticed that this does not apply to PDF files shared in Google messages.
An additional code was found by Android Authority showing that it is another improvement that Google could provide its messages to its service, following the traces of competing messaging applications such as WhatsApp, which already offers PDF overviews. However, Android Authority indicates that PDF files that require an access password will not have an overview.
3. A “unsubscribe” button to prevent SMS and RCS spam
Less a design feature and plus a new management tool, 9TO5GOOGLE stressed that Google could implement a new “unsubscribing” feature aimed at stopping undesirable SMS or RCS cats of business shipments. This upgrade appears in the most recent version of Google Messages, and 9TO5GOOGLE Note to which it applies:
- RCS for commercial messages in the United States, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Spain and the United Kingdom.
- SMS or MMS messages in the United States from short codes (telephone numbers with 5 to 6 digits) and alphanumeric shipments.
The new button was spotted above the text field at the bottom of the cats and in the overhang of the conversation.
4. Changes in the main action buttons
The final upgrade is a very minor modification of Google messages and is already available in the latest beta version: Google has added text to its main call, video, contact and research buttons. We assume that this new addition is to provide visual help to users, which facilitates the distinction between these different functions.
