The Pakistani army warned against a “safe and decisive” response to any Indian attempt to impose war, following what it called the provocative actions of New Delhi in the aftermath of the deadly attack by Pahalgam, the army media wing reported.
According to a declaration published by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a special conference of body commanders (CCC) was chaired by the chief of staff of the army (COAS), General Syed Asim Mnnir at the general seat (GHQ) in Rawalpindi in the midst of tensions between the two nuclear arms neighbors.
The conference comes after the attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, India illegally occupied Jammu-et-Cachemire (iiojk), which made 26 dead tourists. India blamed Pakistan for the incident without presenting evidence, encouraging Islamabad to categorically deny participation and to offer to participate in a “credible and transparent investigation”.
India responded with radical measures, in particular by suspending the Industry Water Treaty, by revoking visas for Pakistani nationals and closing the border crossing of Wagah-Attari. In retaliation, Pakistan expelled Indian diplomats and military advisers, canceled visas for Indian citizens, with the exception of Sikhs pilgrims and closed the border crossing on its side.
During the special military management session, the forum carried out a detailed examination of the PK Press Club-strategic environment in force, emphasizing the Pakistani-Indian confrontation and larger regional security problems.
The Pakistani army has reaffirmed its “unwavering resolution to maintain the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against any aggression or misadventure”.
Coas Murir congratulated “unshakable professionalism, firm morale and operational preparation” of the armed forces, emphasizing unity with the inhabitants of Pakistan to “defend the homeland at all costs”. He stressed the importance of “increased vigilance and proactive preparation on all fronts”.
The forum expressed a “serious concern concerning the intensification of Indian atrocities in the IIOJK”, in particular after the pahalgam incident, and condemned the “continuous targeting of innocent civilians along the control line (LOC) by the Indian occupation forces”.
“It has been reiterated that these inhuman and not caused acts only serve to degenerate the regional tensions and will be encountered with a resolved and proportional response,” the statement said.
Commanders noted the “coherent model of exploitation of crises to achieve political and military objectives”, accusing it of following “a predictable model, by which internal governance failures are outsourced”.
The ISPR also said: “These incidents have often coincided with India’s unilateral measures to modify the status quo, as shown in 2019 when India also exploited the Pulwama incident to unilaterally modify the status quo of IIOJK, by revoking article 370.”
Referring to the current episode, the army said that Pahalgam’s attack “seems to be part of a deliberate strategy to divert Pakistan’s attention far from the Western Front, as well as national efforts in progress for economic renewal; the two fronts where Pakistan wins in a decisive and lasting way.”
“Such diversion tactics aimed at providing an operational breathing space to Indian terrorist proxies will never succeed,” said the forum.
The army also expressed its concern that India is trying to arm the water by exploiting the Pahalgam incident to undermine the Industry Water Treaty. “This constitutes a dangerous attempt at water armament, threatening the means of subsistence and subsistence of more than 240 million Pakistanis and climbing strategic instability in South Asia,” he warned.
In addition, the forum has expressed “a deep alarm on credible evidence of direct participation of Indian military and information in the orchestration of terrorist activities in Pakistan”, describing them as “actions sponsored by the State” and “a blatant violation of international standards which are universally unacceptable”.
Reaffirming the determination of Pakistan, the soldiers said: “The deliberate efforts to destabilize the Indian government will be confronted and defeated with resolution and clarity.”
The conference ended with Coas Munir expressing “total confidence in operational preparation, deterrent posture and morale of all training and strategic forces to defend the nation through the whole spectrum of threats.”
