President Donald Trump praised the work of his administration in a statement on Saturday and shared his “best wishes” to competitors of the 151st edition of the Kentucky Derby, an event which, according to him, represents an “emblematic American institution”.
Trump published a statement a few hours before the 19 thoroughbred plot took their place before buffering 1.25 mile around Churchill Downs, ahead of 150,000 fans on Saturday evening.

“Kentucky Derby is not only a stake race, but also an emblematic American institution and an elegant celebration of our culture, our customs and unwavering competitive minds, “said the president’s declaration.

“When the first Kentucky derby started in the spring of 1875-1 years before the 100th anniversary of American independence – our nation was in the middle of a great transformation. The expansion to the west was underway, our industries were booming and the promise of a manifest destiny beat in the heart of 10,000 spectators.
Trump’s statement continued by saying that this year’s race also recalled that “we are at the start of a new golden age”.

The race should start at 6:57 p.m. on NBC and will probably be muddy with weather forecasts predicting 90% of rain.
