Muzaffarabad:
Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq said that the coalition government had implemented several institutional reforms during its two years in power.
Addressing a function at Thorad Rawalakot, the AJK PM stressed that shortly after having assumed his duties, he took strong measures against the tax mafia involved in tax evasion and fraud, which had siphoned 600 billion rupees of the national spectrum.
He pointed out that the corruption and looting incidents have been largely treated, adding strict actions against tax, wood and cigarette mafias.
Regarding institutional reforms, the AJK PM stressed the importance of the Commission of the Public Service and the NT in the restoration of merit in recruitment. He said that nearly 3,000 boys and girls had been recruited to merit through the NTS.
Addressing the question of unpaid public service bills and the financial consequences of the electricity flight, the PM has pointed out: “We can only repair the system by improving our character.”
He deplored that if electricity was provided to consumers at 71 rupees per unit, 70% of it was a flight. “Now the cost of electricity is 3 rupees per unit and the flight has increased from 70 to 71%,” he added.
