Pakistan will deploy the “complete spectrum of power”, including nuclear capacities, in response to any Indian military strike or disruption of critical water resources, warned its ambassador to Russia.

In an austere statement to the Russian broadcaster RT on Saturday, ambassador Muhammad Khalid Jamali said that Islamabad had information indicating an imminent Indian military action. “There are disclosed documents suggesting plans to hit certain areas of Pakistan,” he said, calling the threat of “imminent”.

The ambassador’s remarks follow increased tensions between the nuclear weapons neighbors after a deadly attack on April 22 in the Jammu and the Kashmir of Indian origin (Iiojk). New Delhi accused Islamabad of having hosted militant groups, designating alleged Pakistani nationals linked to the assault in the Baisaran valley, which killed several civilians.

Pakistan has denied participation, calling for an international survey and proposing that nations such as China and Russia participate. “We expect neutral and credible investigations to the incident,” said Jamali.

The envoy also issued a sharp warning on the suspension of India from the Industry Water Treaty – a long -standing agreement governing cross -border rivers. “Any attempt at usurpation or diversion of water would constitute an act of war and would be encountered with full force,” he said.

Despite difficult rhetoric, Jamali stressed the importance of restraint, noting that the two countries have nuclear weapons. “There is all the more need to defuse tensions,” he urged.

Following the attack, India expelled Pakistani diplomats, suspended visa services and closed its land border with Pakistan. Islamabad responded in kind. New Delhi has since announced new economic measures to demarcate bilateral links.

While diplomatic hostilities are intensifying, international observers urge calm between regional rivals, in the midst of fears of potential military escalation.
