Washington commanders would host the NFL 2027 draft in Washington, DC, while the organization is preparing to build a new stadium in the national capital.
President Donald Trump is expected to make this announcement on Monday, according to several reports.

The owner of the commanding team, Josh Harris, had thought of bringing the project to the National Mall at least once in the coming years. He revealed his dream in August when he worked to secure the old RFK stadium site as a new team house.
“Think of the idea of having – and I don’t put the news here, it’s not done yet – but think of a project on the shopping center, and how exciting it would be, for the city of Washington, for the NFL,” said Harris at the time. “Everyone sees it, and obviously there is a lot of complexity with the service of the park … But I think it will happen, and it’s a question of knowing when.”
It seems that the dream is closer to reality.

The draft has just been held in Green Bay last week. The smallest NFL market welcomed more than 600,000 fans over the three days.
The project was, at some point, a permanent element at the radio City Music Hall in New York. The event took place in one day. However, while the NFL took the project on the road, the event went three days. Chicago welcomed it in 2015-2016 with Philadelphia and Dallas hosting it after that.
The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the home choices during the 2020 draft due to the coronavirus pandemic. Cleveland, Las Vegas, Kansas City and Detroit have it afterwards.

Pittsburgh will host it in 2026.
