Trump appoints that Andrew Giuliani, son of the former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, to the FIFA World Cup working group

Andrew Giuliani, the son of the former mayor of New York, Rudy Giuliani, was appointed executive director of the White House working group for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Tuesday.

President Donald Trump made this announcement in a verification position on Tuesday after held the first official meeting with the working group. The members of his cabinet and the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, were also present.

“I am proud to announce the appointment of Andrew Giuliani as executive director of the president’s working group on the FIFA World Cup 2026,” said Trump’s announcement.

“During my first mandate, Andrew was a special assistant to the president and associate director of the public liaison office, playing a key role in the creation of the system that enabled athletes around the world to return to the United States during the reopening of America in 2020.”

In March, Trump signed a decree establishing the working group for the football tournament, which will be organized by the United States, Canada and Mexico. Trump will be president of the working group, while vice-president JD Vance will be vice-president. As executive director, Giuliani will be responsible for managing and supervising daily operations.

Addressing the members of the press after the meeting, Trump congratulated Giuliani and his father, qualifying the latter the “biggest” mayor of New York history.

“He’s going to be great. I have known him for a long time. He is a highly competitive golfer, really good. He is also a very competitive person, and he likes what we do. I want to congratulate you as well as your family and your father, your grandfather who is the greatest mayor in the history of New York,” said Trump, adding, “it’s a big post.

Trump also announced on Tuesday that Carlos Cordeiro, a main FIFA advisor, will serve as a main advisor to the working group.

“I know thatrew and Carlos will work tirelessly to make the FIFA World Cup 2026 unprecedented success.”

Should be one of The biggest international sporting events, The host cities of the World Cup anticipate almost half a million visitors with a potential economic impact of up to 480 million dollars which will benefit tourism, the hotel industry and the retail industries.

The international tournament, covering North America, will start in June 2026 and is the first World Cup in more than two decades which will take place in several countries. The majority of matches will take place in the United States in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas, Kansas City, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia and East Rutherford, New Jersey.
