Images of the long-term Xbox Xbox of Microsoft made by Asus fled online, offering the first overview of the device in partnership.
As reported by Videocardz, the photos were mistakenly disclosed by the FCC of the United States, which inadvertently revealed two versions of the ROG Ally 2, including the Xbox brand cod “Project Kennan”.
One model is white, but the other, Project Kennan, is all black and present which seems to be a dedicated Xbox button at the top left of the device.
It is said that Microsoft will officially reveal the Kennan project in the coming months, probably before the end of 2025, which means that we could see an ad during its annual summer window in June or July.
The two models offer a large screen, analog sticks, a pad and x, y, b and a buttons. In particular, they also wear handles that are shaped after a controller, offering what looks like a bigger handle.
They look a lot like the First Rog Ally Handheld PC, which, to be honest, is quite disappointing. By focusing only on the Xbox version, I expected much more in the design department outside a barely visible brand button; Nothing about this shouts me “Xbox Gaming Handhed” for me.
Project Keenan was disclosed in March and would be a partner device with a sort of Xbox brand, green reflections and an Xbox guide button. The latest images seem to corroborate these newly disclosed images, but they are clearly a work in progress, so I hope that the design will be updated before its release.
It also seems that this new device in partnership is not the Xbox pocket computer that Microsoft’s Gaming CEO, Phil Spencer, is far from the output. In November 2024, Spencer confirmed that the company is working on portable prototypes and said that he had asked his team to look at the current market to develop their vision of a workforce according to what it learns.
