In the midst of increasing tensions between Pakistan and India, Azerbaijan announced total support in Pakistan and expressed its solid solidarity towards its government and its people.

In an official letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Azerbaijani government expressed concern about the current situation and condemned the recent actions of the Indian army.

The message was transmitted by the Azerbaijan ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, who transmitted a special support for his government.

According to an official statement, Azerbaijan has exercised sincere condolences to the families of people affected by recent hostilities and prayed for the rapid recovery of the wounded.

The Azerbaijan government has also called for a peaceful resolution in the dispute through diplomatic channels.

In his message, Ambassador Farhadov shared good wishes for the people of Pakistan, reaffirming the commitment of Azerbaijan to cooperation and support during this critical period.

Tensions between India and Pakistan intensified following an attack in Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk), illegally occupied the Indians, which resulted in the death of 22 tourists. India has accused Pakistan of being involved in the incident – an allegation of Islamabad has strongly denied.

Following the attack, India announced the suspension of the Industry Water Treaty and the closing of the Wagah-Attari land passage with Pakistan. Actions attracted a strong conviction of the National Committee of Pakistan (NSC), which warned that any attempt to block the water flow would be considered as an act of war under international law.

The situation increased more in the night of May 6 and 7, when Indian forces launched missile attacks on six locations in Pakistan. According to the CEO ISPR, at least 31 civilians, including women and children, were martyred and 71 others were injured in strikes.
