In an audience in the Senate, relating to the capacities of the AI, vice-president and president of Microsoft Brad Smith, revealed that the employees of the company are not allowed to use the Deepseek application.
Citing security and propaganda problems, Smith noted that Microsoft does not offer Deepseek in his App Store, arguing that there is a risk that user data will be stored in China and that Deepseek’s responses to user demands could be influenced by “Chinese propaganda”.
Several government agencies have also prohibited the controversial AI model, including the US trade department and the US navy – and the “in -depth government’s systems” could soon see this further expanded.
Security risks
AI models such as Deepseek and Chatgpt have been criticized to be a bit of a confidentiality nightmare, in particular given information on users in chatbots – and personal data that models collect and store.
The American Congress specifically described Deepseek as a “deep threat” for national security and privacy, collecting large amounts of data, including “cat history, details of the devices and even the way a person is hit”.
“A more in -depth inspection reveals that the application siphon data to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), creates security vulnerabilities for its users, and is based on a model that secretly censures and manipulates information in accordance with Chinese law,” described the Congress report.
Deepseek’s privacy policy confirms that it stored data on Chinese servers, and data is subject to Chinese law, which guarantees cooperation with Chinese intelligence agencies.
The model also censorships sensitive to Chinese security.
The Chatbot has also undergone a significant data violation, which has exposed more than a million files and has fueled concerns about AI models and the management and protection of user information.
