The quarter of New Orleans, Derek Carr, announced his retirement on Saturday.
The choice of the second round 2014 had been faced with a shoulder injury that put his 2025 in doubt – he missed seven games last year with a concussion and a fractured hand.
“By reflecting prayer and in discussion with Heather, I decided to retire from the National Football League,” Carr said in a statement.

“For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed, and we are eternally grateful and humiliated by this experience. It is difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all the teammates, coaches, management, property, team managers and in particular fans who have made this special trip. Your unshakable support has mean the world for us.”
The saints announced that the injury that Carr had undergone in March a labral tear, and he “also had significant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff”.
The saints said that surgery would have endangered the season, and that there would have been a decent chance that he does not find his old force.

Car hangs the crampons after launching 41,245 yards, 257 affected and 112 interceptions. He was appointed four times to Pro Bowl, including each year from 2015 to 2017.
The car finished in third place in the NFL MVP vote in 2016, but its season was interrupted due to a broken ankle. The Raiders of the era-Oakland went 12-3 while he was under the center this season.

Carr spent its first nine seasons with the raiders before joining the saints before the 2024 season for an agreement of four years worth 150 million dollars, with 100 million dollars guaranteed. In 27 games with New Orleans, Carr completed 68.2% of its passes for 6,023 yards, 40 affected and 13 interceptions.
New Orleans has selected Tyler Shough from Louisville with the 40th choice of NFL draft.
