- This foldable keyboard pc runs Windows 11 on Ryzen 7 Power
- Adapts in a jacket or pocket of pants but manages multi-monitor productivity workloads
- Aluminum construction and the complete keyboard mask a complete portable office inside
A Windows Pocket PC in a folding keyboard can look like a concept device, but a new China mini-machine seems to be very real.
Designed by a company called Linglong, this foldable mini PC fueled by Ryzen adapts in a jacket or (large) pocket of pants, takes place in a large keyboard and performs a complete Windows 11 Pro desk.
Weighing less than 800 g and roughly the size of a quarter sheet of A4 paper when folded, the unit is intended for anyone who wishes portability without sacrificing the features.
Decent port selection
Once opened, the PC reveals a Qwerty keyboard complete with physical switches and a chassis based on aluminum stammered by CNC.
There is no touchpad or ThinkPad style knot, so a separate mouse is necessary, but mechanical journey and sustainability – evaluated at 100,000 keys – suggest that it is designed for serious use.
At the heart of the system is an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U processor, associated with 16 GB of RAM LPDDR5 and 512 GB or 1 TB of storage.
The graphics are managed by Radeon 780m integrated based on RDNA3, and an internal battery of 16000mah feeds the device up to 10 hours.
Despite its small form factor, the unit includes a respectable selection of ports: USB4, USB-C 3.2 and USB-A 3.2, as well as Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and an HDMI compatible USB display option.
The device supports the multi-screen output and can be moored to serve as a workstation, game or a multimedia center.
An integrated monitoring utility displays the load, temperature and other processor and GPU statistics in real time.
Only available in China for the moment (I share your disappointment), the Linglong Mini PC reminds me of the Orange Pi 800 keyboard computer.
Although it lacks global availability or official support for Western markets, it is an ambitious reimagination of what portable computers can look like and I can only hope that it gets a wider version soon or triggers similar conceptions elsewhere.
