Islamabad:
On Sunday, Pakistan praised the remarks of the United Nations Secretary General António Guterres concerning the recent cease-fire agreement between Pakistan and India, calling it important stage towards sustainable peace in South Asia.
In a declaration published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Islamabad expressed his gratitude for the comments of the Secretary General, echoing his point of view according to which the cease-fire contributes positively to promoting a stable and peaceful regional environment.
By reaffirming its long-standing position, Pakistan stressed that a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu-et-Cachemire dispute remains central to reach lasting peace in the region.
The declaration reiterated the appeal of Pakistan to a resolution in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the aspirations of the cashmere people.
“Pakistan attaches great importance to the role of the United Nations in the promotion of peace and regional stability,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stressing the country’s commitment to “a constructive dialogue and focused on the” based on the principles of the Charter of the United Nations and international law.
Pakistan and India agreed on Saturday a cease-fire negotiated by the United States in a spectacular turn of events, preventing a wider conflict between the two nuclear armed neighbors.
Pakistan in the early hours of Saturday launched a missile strike barrier through the air and the surface, targeting 26 military installations across India. The country had promised reprisals after India led a series of missile strikes deeply reaching Pakistan. The strikes had killed 26 civilians.
The tilting point, however, was India missile strikes on air bases, including Nur Khan air base in Rawalpindi on Friday evening. The base is not only a key logistics base but is used for VVIP movements.
Shortly after the Indian missile strikes, Pakistan launched a massive attack that amazed India.
At this stage, the world capitals, including the closest Indian allies, realized that the situation had reached a point where everything could happen. While people woke up with more exchanges of missiles and drones between the two countries, diplomacy was already at work.

In the afternoon, when residents of many cities in Pakistan came out to celebrate the country’s victory, President Trump broke the history of the ceasefire.
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am happy to announce that India and Pakistan have accepted a complete and immediate ceasefire. Congratulations to the two countries for having used common sense and intelligence,” he said in an article on Truth Social.
A few minutes after the announcement of the American president, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, confirmed development on social networks, while reaffirming the constant pursuit of peace and regional stability by Pakistan. With application entry
