- Cisco questioned 8,000 security and business leaders for a new report
- Most companies have undergone an attack fueled by AI last year
- Fulfill the roles of cybersecurity seems to be a major challenge
Most companies cannot fulfill vacant roles for cybersecurity professionals, leaving huge gaps in their defenses that actors easily threaten. These are some of the results included in the 2025 cybersecurity preparation index, a report recently published by Cisco networking giants.
The document was written on the basis of a double -blind survey of 8,000 private sector security leaders and business leaders in 30 world markets. In this document, Cisco said that almost nine (86%) of respondents identified the shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals as a “major challenge”. In addition, it has been said that more than half of the respondents said they had more than ten vacant stations.
The shortage of qualified personnel is not a new problem – Techradar Pro has been reporting it for years. Even three years ago, Harvey Nash Group said there was a deficit of 10,000 people a year in the United Kingdom’s cybersecurity basin, alone. To worsen things, those who stay in industry are overwhelmed by work and often exhausted, also leading to health problems.
Invest in AI
To resolve the problem, Cisco’s new article argues that companies should “invest in AI -oriented solutions, simplify safety infrastructure and improve awareness of AI threats”.
“The priority to AI for the detection, response and resumption of threats is essential, as is the question of talent shortages,” concluded society.
Artificial intelligence seems to be the underlying theme of the whole paper. Cisco said that technology “revolutionizes security” and “climbing threat levels” adding that 86% of respondents were confronted with IA -related security incidents last year, and half (49%) were convinced that their employees were aware of the threat.
Finally, Cisco has warned that only 4% of organizations in the world can be considered “mature” with regard to the level of preparation necessary to effectively resist the threats of cybersecurity today.
“While the AI transforms the company, we are dealing with a brand new class of risk on a unprecedented scale – exercising even more pressure on our infrastructure and those who defend it,” said Jeetu Patel, director of Cisco chief products.
