Boomer Esiason tears the advertiser of the Yankees Dave Sims for the missing series

For the first time since 1988, New York Yankees have a new full -time game advertiser on the radio.

Dave Sims replaced John Sterling, who retired at the start of the 2024 season but briefly returned to the playoffs on WFAN. Sims was previously the television broadcaster for the Seattle Navy.

Sterling, of course, never missed a 1989 match until the summer of 2019, including the playoffs. But Sims was not on the call to the Yankees series last weekend in Sacramento against athletics.

Sims had declared on social networks that the series would miss to visit his family in Seattle – before the three games of the Yankees there this week.

The absence of Sims disturbed Boomer Esiason, who is organizing a daily morning program on the Yankees radio network.

“John Sterling did not miss any game, aren’t you? Are you just taking a week off?” Said Esiason. “I’m sorry, I love Dave Sims … What are you doing? You just took the work Yankee. It’s supposed to be the work of your life.”

“You don’t miss a Yankee … you don’t do that.”

EsiSon reiterated his penchant for the Sims, “but I’m going to call him as I see.”

“He has just started as a Yankee announcing, he has 40 games in his career as a Yankee announcer, and he decided to take off,” said Esiason.

Perhaps the problem struck a painful place for Esiason, who traveled to call the NFL games and managed to return to New York to welcome his program, which he co-animated with Gregg Giannotti.

“I went to the matches on Monday evening and I would come back in the middle of the night to be here in the studio with Craig [Carton]Especially when we were simultaneous … I also did the same with you. These are the Yankees for the love of God, “said Esiason, MVP of the NFL of 1989.

There was a rotation of several advertisers last year for the Yankees, but they landed on the Sims during the offseason.

The Yankees and Mariners series, where Sims will call the match since the visitors’ broadcasting stand, will start on Monday evening.
