The University of Punjab published a revised calendar on Monday for all the exams that were previously postponed due to the Pakistani-Indian tension.
According to the official notification of the university, the diploma exams for arts, sciences and trade – as well as special category documents initially scheduled for May 9 and 10 – will now be held on Wednesday May 14 and Thursday May 15.
Revised dates for BBA written exams (HONS) have also been announced. These papers will now take place on Thursday May 15 and Friday May 16.
In addition, practical examinations of BFA programs in graphic design and textile design were postponed for Monday May 19 and Tuesday, May 20.
The university has confirmed that the sites and the calendar of all the reprogrammed examinations will remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, all public and private educational establishments through Punjab reopened on Monday, May 12, following a temporary closure triggered by increased Pakistani-Indian tensions.
The closures were applied on May 7 after the Indian missile and drone attacks targeted Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), which prompted the Department of Provincial Education to suspend academic activities as a precaution.
The Minister of Education of Punjab, Rana Sikandar Hayat, confirmed the reopening in a statement on Sunday, citing the improvement of the security conditions. “Student and staff safety remains our absolute priority. With the stabilized situation, schools and colleges will resume as planned,” he said.
The conflict had also disrupted the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education exams (Bise). The articles programmed – including the translation of the Koran, ethics, mathematics, biology and several practices – have been postponed to Lahore, Multan and other regions.
