We have had strong indicators for a while that Apple experiences the intra-ear cameras at the entrance for Apple’s intelligence. And according to a new report, Apple plans to have cameras in AirPods from 2027. He will also add a small camera to the Apple Watch in 2027 and will launch his first smart glasses equipped with camera.
It is according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, but another report suggests that the cameras may not be cameras as you could imagine: last year, the analyst respected Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple was aimed at putting infrared cameras in AirPods by the end of 2026.
These cameras could see gestures, which could then be used to control the functionality of the application or system. Gurman and Kuo may describe the same buds.
What AirPods will come with cameras?
Here is a puzzle: if Apple is on the track to release AirPods Pro 3 this year, which we are waiting for and has long been rumor, then 2027 seems too early for another iteration of AirPods Pro: the first generation took place from 2019 to 2022, and the second generation should take place from 2022 to 2025.
Thus, on this basis, AirPods Pro 4 was not due before the end of 2028 – a certain time after the chronology of the reported camera of Gurman.
It is very unlikely that Apple will put a new premium functionality like this in AirPods less than Premium, so if we assume that Iirpod Pro 4 will not come earlier than usual. This leaves us two options: Airpods Max 2, or an even more premium type of AirPods Pro – Airpods Ultra, someone?
I bet against the cameras that came to AirPods Max, because all the reports on the cameras have been on headphones equipped with cameras, and they sell much better than Airpods Max.
But the addition of another level to the AirPods range would turn the late Steve Jobs: rather than its favorite range of three – good, better, better – it could mean five different airpod flavors: standard airpods, standard airpods with ANC, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Max and AirPods Ultra. It doesn’t seem very apple.
But perhaps the date of 2027 is deactivated, or there is another torsion to come. In any case, we will have some time to wait and discover it.
