Yesterday, Google announced a major overhaul of the design language used in Android and its applications, but it seems that there are also changes to the lock screen that Google has not specifically mentioned in its presentation.
The Android Authority team has spotted some adjustments to the display always on one of the images shared by Google, and they could finally update pixel handsets with Samsung Galaxy phones and iphones in this particular department.
You will see that the display always on poster a version based on wallpaper of the home screen, which is not currently an option on Pixel phones, while the widget at a glance has also been moved to the right of the clock.
This mixture of locking screen widgets actually disclosed last month, but it is more proof that it is on the way. It seems likely that these modifications could be applied to the locking screen with the launch of Android 16 in June.

I use a pixel as a main phone, and the lack of customization options on the lock screen was frustrating. This is a screen that users see many days of course, so a little more visual flair with the wallpaper support will be welcome.
As Android Authority points out, the option to see the wallpaper on the lock screen was available in the past on Pixel phones, but has not been offered from Google Pixel 4 – perhaps to maximize the battery life.
Head in the lock screen settings on a pixel phone today, and you get useful options to limit the sensitive content that appears in notifications and modification of shortcut buttons displayed during the phone locking.
However, you do not get the same level of control as Samsung and Apple give you, with options to display the wallpaper, defining a different backdrop on the home screens and choosing the widgets displayed when the phone is locked.
