- Square Handheld offers complete POS features in a pocket form
- Built for mobility with barcode scanning and a day’s battery life
- Seven software modes adapt to restaurants, retail shops and other types of businesses
Financy Technology Company Square introduced a new addition to its hardware range. Square Handheld is a compact and portable point of sale (POS) device designed to meet the evolutionary needs of restaurants and retailers.
Weighing only 11 ounces and less than a thick thickness, the device offers full point of sale features in a sufficiently small shape factor to adapt to an apron or a pocket.
The new device includes a 6.2-inch Gorilla glass touch screen, an integrated barcode scanner and a 16 megapixel camera.
Protected from dust and water splashes
Square Pandheld supports tap and diving payments and operates on the newly unified square point of sale application.
The equipment is classified IP54 to protect itself from dust and water splashes, while the battery is designed to last an entire working day.
This model is designed to help sellers take orders, manage stocks and make transactions from anywhere in their store or restaurant, without having to return to a fixed payment terminal.
The device is based on the design history of square equipment, which started with its original card reader and now includes solutions such as the square stand, the square terminal and the square register.
The software experience includes seven configurable modes adapted to specific industries, including food, bars and retail. Sellers can switch between modes as their operational needs change. Push notifications and specific controls help rationalize workflows for traveling staff.
Square Handheld is launched as part of Square Release, a new biannual deployment which is full of major hardware and software updates. It is available on Square Shop, at a price of $ 399. A series of protective cases designed by Belkin will also be available in several colors, from $ 39.
