- An IU 8 arrives in “summer” for the United States
- Samsung pushed an IU 7 in January
- It is not yet clear which phones will get it
We barely had the opportunity to consult a user interface 7 (Samsung’s point of view on Android 15), which appeared for the first time on Samsung Galaxy S25 phones in January, but a User 8 point of view (Samsung’s point of view on Android 16) will be with us in the coming months.
This comes from Samsung VP and responsible for planning smartphones, Minseok Kang (via GSMARENA). Explaining during the recent Android show of Google before Google I / O next week, Kang said that an IU 8 would launch “this summer” in the United States.
This is launching somewhere in June, July or August. During the same event, Google said that Android 16 would be expelled in June after months of beta tests, and that previous leaks suggest that Tuesday June 3 will be the big day.
We have known for some time that Google has been planning to postpone its major Android annual update earlier in the year, long before the Pixel phone unveils, and it seems that Samsung is on board with the plan – and eager that one user interface maintains it.
What phones will get an IU 8?

The following question is: which galaxy phones will get an 8 user interface? Samsung has not yet said much, and it is not immediately clear if there are handsets which are eligible for a user interface 7 but not for an IU 8.
The well -known guardian @ Tarunvats33 spotted a reference showing the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra of 2022 performing a first version of One UI 8 – suggesting that the new software will return to phones aged three years at least.
As current flagship products, there is no doubt that the Galaxy S25 series will receive the ONE UI 8 update, and it is quite sure that the Samsung Galaxy S24 phones and other 2024 models will also get it. Beyond that, we will have to wait and see.
Previous rumors had suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, scheduled for July, would come with an IU 8 from the box. Based on the new comments of Minseok Kang, it seems that this will be the case.
All this means that, in theory, the Galaxy S25, S24, S23 and S22 series should all get a user interface 8, and potentially also the Galaxy S21 FE.
The last three iterations of the Z Fold and Z Flip series should also be covered (Z Flip 4 and Z models of today’s models), alongside the Galaxy Tab range which dates back to the Galaxy S8 tab from 2022, plus the telephones of the A Galaxy series to straighten the A23 of the same year. But we will have to wait a little longer for this full official list.
