- However, they gave renewed fans of hope for its performance as a big bad of the film
Since Robert Downey Jr went on stage at Comic-Con 2024 to reveal that he would play Doctor Doom in the Marvel cinematographic universe (MCU), he is sure to say that fans were divided into two camps.
Indeed, Marvel Optimists believe that the MCU superstar back, which previously played Tony Stark and Iron Man between 2008 and 2019, is an excellent choice for the new big bad in the multiverse saga. However, others believe that his return is a sign of the despair of the comic titan in the middle of the mixed reception to his recent releases of films and television.
However, it seems that the number of those who were seated firmly in the opponent’s camps decreases slowly. This has also been particularly visible in the past few days, in particular in the light of new behind -the -scenes images that Downey JR published from the Avengers: Doomsday together.
It should be noted that there are no history spoilers to Judgment Day From this moment. Nevertheless, I feel obliged to say that, if you do not want to know a single thing on the highly anticipated Marvel Phase 6 film, you are better now.
The first image, which was downloaded from the Instagram account of Downey Jr on May 14, showed the autobiography recently published by the actor of the actor of McU, Jeremy Renner, Jeremy Renner.
Usually, you think it’s not worth doing. But if you take a closer look at said photo, you will notice two things.
On the one hand, Downey Jr carries a muscle costume. This implies that his point of view on one of the most notorious enemies of the Fantastic Four will be as physically imposing as they are mentally and suggests that he will be able to go aside with many Marvel heroes who have been included as part of Judgment DayInitial caste of 27 people.
The other detail, no doubt more important, is the black dots on the face of Downey Jr. This indicates that with a little cgi trick, Marvel will give the doctor von von doom of Downey Jr his marked induced face, which he generally hides behind his emblematic metal mask.
Now, this does not confirm that Downey Jr will not show his face as Doom at one point in one of the new films of 2026. My reading of the situation, however, is that his disfigured face will be covered by said mask during a good part of the execution of this film. I believe that it will only be revealed if his mask is eliminated during a fight, or if Doom wants his opponents to take a look at the permanent physical damage that he endured in his potential quest to stop (or because we do not yet know which ones) the destruction of the multiverse.
The other image, which appeared online yesterday (May 16), does not contain any teases which could trigger new theories of fans on this iteration of Doom. Nevertheless, it is intriguing to see that Downey Jr Lit Marvel Comics that Star Doom, in particular those written by Jonathan Hickman.
For the uninitiated: Hickman is the scribe behind the 2015 edition of the series of “Secret Wars” comics in Marvel. Joe and Anthony Russo, who returned to the MCU alongside Downey Jr to make the next two Avengers films, have previously told me that Hickman’s race, as well as the original scenario of “Secret Wars’, inspired the intrigue of the intrigue of Judgment Day And its suite, alias the film MCU 2027 Avengers: secret wars.
Given that the two comic races will influence this duo of films, it is not a big surprise to see Downey Jr Read the literary works Marvel written by Hickman, in particular those which involve Doom. Downey Jr is someone who seems to conduct much research for the role he plays, but it is always pleasant to see that he will attack this role with the same enthusiasm and the same serious as the others.
Such preparation has not gone unnoticed either. While I was referring to the beginning of this article, fans resumed on surprise the work that Downey Jr puts in this role, and many are more and more impressed. Indeed, a rapid analysis of threads on the Marvel Studios and Marvel Studios Spoilers Reddit pages confirms as much.
Of course, as the saying says, the proof will be in the pudding as to whether the performance of Downey JR is as good as the fans await it. I am always concerned about the fact that his destiny will be revealed as an austere multi-life variant, which would be the bad approach to adopt for a super-spare super-marvel. That said, I renewed the hope that Downey Jr will be a good, if not brilliant, of misfortune, and these images certainly prove why he will probably be.
