Eminent doctor killed in a targeted attack at the Sargodha hospital

The renowned doctor, Dr. Sheikh Ahmad Mahmood, was killed on Friday inside Sargodha’s Fatima hospital in what seems to be a targeted attack. He was 58 years old.

Dr. Mahmood, general doctor and gastroenterology specialist belonging to the minority community Ahmadiyya, is survived by his mother, his wife, his two daughters and two sons. He remained associated with several private and charitable health establishments, more recently offering services at the Fatima hospital as part of a social protection initiative.

According to police reports, the shooter arrived at the hospital dressed in the staff of the “clean punjab program”, bought a control slip and waited inside the hospital.

As soon as Dr. Mahmood came out of his office, the attacker opened fire with a handgun, pulling him in the back and abdomen, seriously damaging his internal organs. He was urgently transported to the university hospital of the district headquarters, where he died of his injuries. The striker fled the scene after the fatal shot.

Video surveillance images show that the elongated doctor injured on the hospital’s floor while the staff, has obviously panicked and in distress, rushing to ask for an ambulance.

Sargodha Dpo Muhammad Sohaib Ashraf, as well as the SP investigation and the SP headquarters, arrived at the scene while the police launched an investigation into the incident. The authorities promised that the author will soon be arrested.
