DPM Ishaq Dar reaches Beijing in the middle of regional tensions

Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar arrived in Beijing on Monday for an official three-day visit, belonging to the State Radio Pakistan reported.

The visit takes place at the invitation of the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The diplomatic journey intervenes in the midst of increased regional tensions after last week’s ceasefire between Pakistan and India. The ceasefire followed a military deadlock linked to the attack of Pahalgam to the Iiojk, which India attributed to Pakistan, although no conclusive evidence was presented.

China has provided unshakable support to Pakistan when India has launched missile strikes targeting Pakistani civilians under the costume of eliminating terrorist camps. It is largely believed that China has worked closely with Pakistan throughout the crisis, providing critical military and diplomatic support to dissuade India.

China publicly supported Pakistan and sent a clear message that it helps Islamabad to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty. The four-day conflict turned out to be extremely beneficial for China, whose J-10C fighter planes and PL-15 missiles helped Pakistan descend six Indian fighter planes, including very advanced Rafale French.

Before leaving for Beijing, DPM Ishaq Dar reaffirmed solid trade and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, Pakistan Associated Press reported.

Dar noted that he had organized two recent telephone conversations with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who extended the invitation to the official visit.

He said his meetings with Chinese leadership would cover a wide range of subjects, including political, regional and global problems, as well as recent tensions between Pakistan and India.

Referring to his discussions with foreign counterparts from around the world, Ishaq Dar said that these interactions had revealed India attempts to fall back on Pakistan, including allegations related to attacks on nuclear installations.

During the visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that DAR will hold in -depth discussions with Wang on the developing regional situation in South Asia and its implications for peace and stability.
