CALPEX 2025 is now underway with companies and manufacturers to present the next office and portable PC equipment – and MSI has just set the tone for the rest of the largest technological event.
After many rumors concerning a new potential pocket computer fueled by AMD, MSI has officially announced the new MSI CLAW A8 BZ2EM Portable game pc. As speculated, he will use the last APU Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU of AMD, while MSI moves away from the heart of Intel Ultra 7 258V used in the 8 AI +label.
It is certainly a big surprise despite the previous leaks, and there are key dishes to do – from its new design to its potential performance capacities. Here is everything you should expect with the portable game PC Claw A8.
1. It will be supplied by Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU of AMD
While the latest AMD portable processor, the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, was included in the prototype version of the Lenovo Legion Go 2 (and supposedly the Xbox pocket computer), the new MSI Claw A8 will join it – and can even launch it before.
However, the culmination is that the Ryzen Z2 Extreme should be the most powerful of the most powerful Z2 Z2 of Team Red, and an upgrade of the original Ryzen Z1 (used in the Asus Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go). He has 8 processor cores and 16 GPU cores, a large jump from the 12 previous GPU cores on the extreme Z1.
We have not seen any portable game PC officially use the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, in addition to the GO legion prototype – and its specifications suggest that it will be in competition with the main Ultra 7 258V used in the MSI Claw 8 AI +, so it will be exciting to see which device (between the Claw 8 AI + and the Claw A8) will come out at the top.
2. The A8 claw can be a slightly cheaper alternative to the new Claw 8 AI + Polar Tempst Edition
Since prices have not yet been announced, there is no clarity on the price of the new MSI Claw A8. However, it may be the slightly cheaper alternative to the new Polar Tempest Claw 8 AI +edition; He uses Wi-Fi 6th with Bluetooth 5.3 instead of Intel Wi-Fi 7 with Bluetooth 5.4 (which makes sense because there is no Intel chip here).
It will also have up to 24 GB of RAM LPDDR5 support, instead of the RAM 32 GB of Claw 8 AI +, which means that there can be two different configurations of the A8 claw.
We should have more clarity on prices during Calpex 2025, but the price difference can mainly come from the performance of Ryzen Z2 Extreme compared to the Ultra 7 258V nucleus.
3. He has a new design for hands comfort and a new palette of green colors
As you can see in the images, it seems that the MSI Claw A8 will have a different design to offer more comfort of the hand. The handles seem curved inward, which is very similar to the Asus Rog Ally, and this could greatly contribute to offering additional comfort for these long hours of play.
I am happy to see that MSI has kept the 8 -inch FHD + display (1920 x 1200) with the A8 claw, because it is the ideal quantity of screen space to make the most of the portable games. It will also be interesting to see how the Extreme Ryzen Z2 processor addresses the resolution and to see how it behaves against the processor of its counterpart.
Until now, it seems that we will have the same game of white-snow colors from the Tempest Polar Tempest 8 AI + on the A8 label, alongside a completely new green color. There is currently no confirmation on an release date, a price or availability, but you can expect to see more details during Calpex 2025.
