The famous Pakistani playwright Khalilur-Rehman Qamar approached the High Court of Lahore on Tuesday to cancel the decision of a court of first instance in the case concerning his abduction. Qamar appealed against the acquittal of the accused, including Aamna Urooj.
According to legal sources, the appeal was filed through the lawyer Mudassir Chaudhry, asking the high court to cancel the verdict of the court of first instance and to ensure the accused’s sentence in accordance with the law.
The petition said that the accused confessed the crimes before the police during the interrogation, but the court of first instance did not correctly evaluate the facts and the evidence presented.
He argued that the judgment of the lower court was defective and did not reflect the gravity of the offenses.

The case stems from a high -level incident on July 15, 2024, when Qamar was removed and stolen after being attracted by the residence of Amina Arooj on the pretext of discussing a theater project. He was released after a ransom payment and reported the crime on July 21.
The case includes serious allegations of kidnapping and blackmail, Qamar maintaining that he was the victim of a targeted honey trap orchestrated by the accused.
His legal team claims that he was detained by armed men.
However, Amina Arooj’s lawyer disputes the story, declaring that the manager of Qamar initiated contact under professional pretexts who have become more personal, alleging inappropriate requests from Qamar.
Earlier, the anti-terrorism court charged Amina Arooj and 11 co-accused, including Hasan Shah and Tanveer Ahmed. The Challan submitted by the accusation said the 12 guilty people, based on the investigation.
The case is heard by judge Arshad Javed, the next hearing scheduled for December 20, when depending on the charge should testify.
